2010 Project Trust Bolivia

A grant to Project Trust, Argyll for a student to travel to Bolivia to volunteer in projects to help street chidren in La Paz. Our project in Bolivia is with the German charity Arco Iris. This charity has a number of different care-work projects throughout the capital city of La Paz, these include an outreach programme for street children, work with shoeshine boys, a restaurant for street children, a hospital and a girls orphanage. All our volunteers travel to the Isle of Coll for a weeks selection course, training course and then on return a debriefing course. We are a fairly small charity and send around 200 volunteers overseas every year, this means that we can get to know each and everyone of them individually. We have experience of sending over 4,000 volunteers overseas for over 36 years. We have a very good support network set up both overseas and in the UK.

A young person who wants to see life overseas through the eyes of those who live there. This is achieved by living and working for a whole year in a culture, community and country very different from their own.
